PROCEDURES FOR LRIT CONFORMANCE TEST

Application for LRIT Conformance Test is made in conjunction when a vessel is registered with a ship registry. Owner wishing to apply for the test must first register for the service by completing the online application.

MCS is authorised by the following flag-state countries to provide LRIT Testing and Certification:

  • Tuvalu
  • Kiribati
  • Niue
  • Nauru

Details of compliance with the LRIT requirements are available from the above flag-states.

The LRIT Conformance Test is applicable to new buildings entering the above registries, or ships that have changed flag to the above-named Flags and where the Application Service Provider (ASP) of the previous Flag is different from the ASP of the above-named Flags.

The fee to conduct the LRIT Conformance Test is USD250. This fee comprises of the 1st test and 2nd re-test (if required).

If a vessel fails in both the above tests, a fee of USD150 is chargeable for each subsequent test conducted by MCS.

The conformance test duration may last for three days and owner is to ensure that the LRIT equipment is switched on at all time.

Upon successful completion of the test, the "LRIT Conformance Test Report" (CTR) will be issued by MCS (at no extra charge) and it must be retained onboard the vessel for survey or inspection purposes.

A fee of USD150 will be charged for any re-issuance of CTR (eg. updating of particulars).

Please ensure all details provided for the conformance test correspond to the Registry’s certificates and other existing statutory certificates of the vessel.
